There are few better representatives for your brand than your CEO and other members of your C-suite. And since 60 percent of a company’s market value is attributable to its reputation, according to surveys of executives conducted by Weber Shandwick, corporate leaders should be making their voices heard by writing and sharing valuable and unique branded content on their company websites and across social media. Social Media Contests: Good or Bad Idea?
A few months ago, I entered a contest on Twitter to win a free spa getaway at the lovely Mayflower Grace in Washington, Connecticut. Excited and shocked to learn I was the winner, (I rarely win things) I immediately shared my excitement on social media.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by friendly staff, and escorted to our beautiful room with a breath-taking garden view. Everything was exquisite, from the delicious food to the out-of-this world spa. At dinner that night, we were asked by our waiter what we did to deserve to win such a great prize. “I think I entered my email address and retweeted something,” I responded. The waiter looked less than impressed, expecting my answer to be a bit more long-winded and involved. His response got me thinking – what is the true value of a contest on social media? The Sad Plight of the New York Mets
On the mantle in my parents’ living room there is a picture of me at a Mets game, five years old eating ice cream out of a plastic helmet and loving life. Without giving away my exact age, that means I have been a Mets fan for about 25 years.
As any Mets fan knows, the team has its fair share of great moments that are inevitably followed by soul-crushing disappointments. But lately, the Mets have had greater problems than anything that’s happened on the field. Starting with the revelations that Mets ownership had invested with Bernie Madoff the franchise has suffered one embarrassment after another over the past five years.

The madness has officially begun. In less than a week, college basketball teams across the U.S. will compete in what has become one of the biggest annual sporting events in the country besides the Superbowl (which was a total bust). For months, coaches have been preparing their players for the “Big Dance” doing everything they can to gain a competitive advantage.
So what does this all have to do with content marketing? Simply put: Content marketing gives businesses the edge they need to thrive in today’s highly competitive market. Below are three ways content marketing can make you a champion. Continue reading “March Madness is Here: Give Your Business a Competitive Edge with Content Marketing”
Top Fashion Designers Make Content Marketing This Year’s Hottest Trend
Making it in the fashion world is no walk (or catwalk) in the park. In the words of supermodel Heidi Klum herself “One day you’re in and one day you’re out.” Most designers come from very humble beginnings, dreaming of that one big break that will catapult them into stardom and sold out shows during Paris Fashion Week.

Avoiding the Riptide of Brand Strategy
The sun is shining, the weather is warming and before you know it, we’ll be in flip flops and bathing suits. But it’s not all fun in the sun for some businesses when it comes to brand strategy. Some seem to be instead swamped in a sea of questions, from ‘How do we maintain brand integrity?’ to ‘How do we sharpen our corporate identity?’ For businesses looking to avoid this, Twitter is an excellent way to boost brand.
According to a recent infographic by Mediabistro, in 2012, Twitter was declared the world’s fastest-growing social platform, adding 40 percent more active users between Q2 and Q4 of last year. Twitter is teeming with ways to inspire, create and expand your business to strengthen brand loyalty.
Are Your Customers Just Not That Into You?
Let’s be honest for a second; it’s really hard to stomach the fact that your hard-earned customers may stray from you one day. While the reason can sometimes be completely unclear, the truth is screaming out to you in a whinny voice: your once loyal customers are now cheating on you with a company who is younger, more attractive and has a better physique (ahem, we mean a superior brand strategy). This other option looks better and piques their interest more. I know it’s hard pill to swallow, but some tough love might be just what you need to shape up and win them back.
