It’s Time For Your 6 Month Content Marketing Checkup

Now that we’re about halfway through 2015, it’s an ideal time to take a step back and make sure you are on track to meet the content marketing goals you outlined for your business back in January (like creating brand awareness, or increasing engagement with your customers).

Here are some questions to ask during your mid-year content marketing checkup:

Are you posting regularly? Posting content is a bit like exercising; you have to do it on a consistent basis if you want to maintain a healthy digital brand. If you go for long periods of time between posts, you will have a much harder time building a steady readership.

Remember: There’s no shame in posting two to three articles per week. Start posting two to three articles per month, however, and you’re bound to run into trouble.

Is your content balanced? Eating too much of any one food is bound to cause health problems. Likewise, your content strategy needs to be properly balanced if you want to ensure a healthy brand image. As such, approximately 60 percent of your articles should be industry-focused while 40 percent should discuss your company’s products or recent news. Additionally, it’s very easy, if you’re not careful, to fall  into the habit of posting the same type of content repeatedly—so make sure you build out your editorial calendars far in advance to include plenty of case studies, interviews, news articles, FAQs and other interesting reads.

Are you socializing enough? Socializing is one of the most important things you can do for your mental health. Just like humans need to reach out to others on a regular basis, it’s important to do the same with your content over your social media channels. So audit your Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts regularly to make sure you are interacting with your customers and keeping them informed about what is happening in your industry, and at your company.

How is your team doing? Many marketing managers and executives rush into content production initiatives without fully understanding how much time and effort it takes. When this happens, team members can get frustrated and burn out. As a result, the quality of the content will begin to suffer as well. So check in with your team to make sure they are in that sweet spot of being productive without being overworked.

So stop and take a look around your marketing department, and ask whether you need to send in some reinforcements. We’re waiting for your call here at Content Boost!
