Major Brand Thinking Out of the Box on Social Media

Today’s brands are savvy. They’re utilizing social media to handle customer service requests and to connect intimately with customers where they hang out most. But some brands are taking it to the next level, pushing the envelope on what social media can truly accomplish.

marcjacobsFashion icon Marc Jacobs recently finished up his second casting call for a new ad campaign through social media, and the results were impressive. Aspiring models were encouraged to post photos of themselves through Instagram and Twitter, using hashtag #castmemarc to become the new face of Marc by Marc Jacobs. Over 70,000 hopefuls entered during the one week casting period, eager to be part of an ad campaign for one of today’s hottest fashion brands. Eligible participants were narrowed down to the final 50, then 30, and finally nine lucky winners. Marc Jacobs got fresh new faces for their campaign, and nine aspiring models got a chance to build their careers: a win-win. Continue reading “Major Brand Thinking Out of the Box on Social Media”

Food For Thought: Why Every Restaurant Should Put Content On The Menu This Weekend

Listen up, restaurant owners: It’s Friday afternoon, which means right now, many of your potential customers are working up an appetite, trying to decide where to head tonight to unwind and grab a bite to eat. Friday is one of the busiest nights of the week for your business, so you’ll want to capitalize on the opportunity and make sure there is a line running out the door in your establishment and not a row of empty seats.

shutterstock_239356252If you want to accomplish this goal of a packed house, don’t wait for customers to come knocking on your door tonight. Restaurant-goers are already browsing their mobile devices, trying to decide whether they want to indulge in Korean, Italian, Mexican, Japanese or American cuisine. If your business does not have a robust digital presence, you could risk losing customers to competitors this evening. TurboTax Mardi Gras Campaign Wins Content Marketing Beads

Mardi Gras—otherwise known for general revelry and perhaps some poor decision making—at its core is a jovial, carnival-themed celebration of color and culture. It’s a bit surprising then that TurboTax, a color-in-the-lines company, capitalized on both ends of Mardi Gras’ reputation in order to present a killer content marketing campaign this February. Chipotle: The Latest Victim of a Social Media Hack

In case you missed it, over the weekend Chipotle Mexican Grill’s official Twitter account (@ChipotleTweets) was overtaken by hackers and used to spread a multitude of racist and hateful tweets across the Web. The hack occurred late Saturday evening, and extended until the early hours of Sunday morning.

shutterstock_229864495The media team at Chipotle was ultimately able to regain control over its account, and responded to the incident in a timely and professional manner.

“We apologize for the very offensive messages sent out from our account earlier tonight,” tweeted Media Manager Joe Stupp. “We were unfortunately hijacked temporarily.”

Suffice to say, it was a rough way to start the week for Chipotle, as the company is now in the process of performing damage control in an effort to restore its squeaky-clean brand image and let customers know that it was not responsible for the attack. Successful brands put life into their products. They understand design and tailor it for end user’s needs. Companies such as Apple and Coke, have an ability to capture the hearts of customers instilling respect and trust, whether it is a computer or soda.

Each stage in a brand’s life has an appropriate design and strategy for appealing to the consumer, in return defining a bottom line for a company. To understand how brands consistently deliver us with the latest products and raise revenue, one must understand their life cycle.  Continue reading “Designing for the Bottom Line”

This Summer’s Marketing Superlatives

shutterstock_112540055The sun is just about setting on summer, and that means marketers everywhere are reflecting on their advertising campaigns and looking ahead to fall. But before we welcome autumn, we here at Content Boost thought it would be fun to highlight three brands that we feel have made a big splash with their advertising campaigns over past few months.

Here are our picks:

Most ambitious: Pac Sun

California clothing company Pac Sun set out with a goal this summer to capture the “diverse, creative and optimistic” Golden State of Mind with its marketing campaign. The company travelled to 20 different cities across the U.S. and took photographs of each one. Then, it combined the original photographs the team took with images from across California, giving customers the opportunity to picture their city as if they were in California. The company then included the original images in 619 window displays across the country, using social media, online video and an online hub to engage with customers.

Big_Sur_Coast_CaliforniaAnd if you’re like me, you probably can’t just get up and go to California on whim, where it actually is 70 degrees and sunny. But you can check out the state tourism board’s new Dream 365 project, where you can salivate over documentaries depicting people bicycling across the Golden Gate bridge, surfing through tidal waves, playing music on mountainsides and skateboarding on a half pipe in the middle of the ocean. And while you’re at it, if you aren’t already packing your bags, you can learn about a great new content marketing strategy that your business can use to spread brand awareness and get people excited about what you are doing: a YouTube takeover.
